Associate Membership

Associate members are, by definition, suppliers of products and/or service to Active SFM members. They are part of this association because of its mutual benefit. The opportunity for idea exchange and better understanding of each other's needs can result in better products, services and foodservice operations.

When joining SFM, the Associate member agrees to a general code of conduct while participating in SFM activities in order to achieve the stated goals of effective idea exchange and better understanding of mutual needs.

There are:

  • Interaction with members at SFM functions will be primarily to become better acquainted and to learn from one another. Overt soliciting of business is not acceptable at SFM functions. This is better done in the normal business environment.
  • Participation in SFM programs is primarily for an Associate member to offer expertise and knowledge in his/her particular field. It should be done with the purpose of transmitting this general knowledge. Specific reference to his/her product or service should be as a means of transmitting this knowledge, not making a sales presentation regarding that product or service.
  • Use of the SFM Member Roster by an Associate member as a mailing list for product or service promotion is permitted. The Associate member is responsible for not providing this list to any others outside the SFM membership.
